OPEN CALL (translated from Spanish)
With the purpose to attack the circuits of silence and contextualize the transatlantic struggles, I open this call to artists, activists, art students or related, art historians, feminists and freelancers having video work related to the history of violence and disappearance Latin America has been forced.
Looking forward to expand notions of past and present (his)stories in speeches and hegemonic narratives, this call seeks to bring together a selection of videos that can confront the Finnish viewers with silence and privilege of official histories. It is a sample video that resists official narratives sharing and expanding Latin American visions in Europe.
The videos will be screened on 20 and 24 May 2016 in TEAK (Theatre Academy) as part of my MA project ASHES based on the night of September 26, 2014 in Iguala, Mexico.
CONVOCATORIA
Con el propósito de atacar los circuitos del silencio y de contextualizar las luchas trasatlánticas, abro esta convocatoria a artistas, activistas, estudiantes de arte o afines, historiadoras de arte, feministas y freelanceros que tengan trabajo en video relacionado a la historia de violencia y desaparición forzada que ha sufrido Latinoamérica.
Buscando ampliar las nociones de nuestras historias presentes y pasadas en los discursos y narrativas hegemónicas, esta convocatoria busca juntar una selección de videos que puedan confrontar a los espectadores finlandeses con el silencio y privilegio de las historias oficiales. Es una muestra de video que resiste las narrativas oficiales compartiendo y ampliando visiones Latinoamericanas en Europa.
Los videos se proyectarán los días 20 y 24 de Mayo 2016 en TeaK (Academia de Teatro) en el marco de mi proyecto de maestría ASHES, basado en la noche del 26 de Septiembre 2014 en Iguala, México.
Here is the selection for the screenings “New World: Violence Remains”, we are very surprised, moved and thankful for the response and scope the open call generated, for this reason we are looking forward to continue working on this project, expanding the formats and opening the Latino American vision in Europe.
We received around 130 proposals from 14 countries. We also received work from artists who were invited personally because of their trajectory and artistic proposal.
Aquí está la selección para el screening “New World: Violence Remains”, estamos muy sorprendidos, conmovidos y agradecidos por la respuesta y alcance que la convocatoria generó por lo que esperamos continuar trabajando en este proyecto, expandiendo los formatos y abriendo las visiones Latino Americanas en Europa.
Se recibieron alrededor de 130 propuestas provenientes de 14 países, también recibimos trabajo de artistas a los que se les invitó personalmente dada su trayectoria y propuesta artística.
