In 2009 I made a series of printmaking based works with the idea of repetition and movement. I photographed myself crawling and then sketch a brass plate with the sequence of images. I printed the plate several times and creating a timeline of movement.
In Words Run Out my child and I, moist with oil start this performance by crawling together on a roll of paper, as it unrolls I continue alone tracing movements and leaving behind pieces of clothing. A lexicon of movements, gestures, body parts and objects. The way we learn, the way we become human.
Once reached the end of the paper I sprinkle black pigment on the surface of the paper. I ask the audience to help me lift the paper in vertical and sprinkle down the loose pigment that didn't get attached to the baby oil. The remaining piece is a drawing, a documentation of a performance and a trace.
